Estefano Isaias, a businessman who understood the people’s needs
Estefano Isaias is a businessman with a big heart. It is not surprising because he comes from a family tradition where giving back was always considered more important than making money. His grandfather arrived in Ecuador from Lebanon as a man on a mission to turn an entrepreneurial spirit into a way of life.
While growing their businesses to become some of the biggest in Ecuador, the Isaias family, with Estefano at the lead, always reserved time and resources to look after those less fortunate than themselves.
They always had an open ear and open heart for those who, like their grandfather, had a large imagination and a dream of opening and owning a business of their own. While many banks turned them away, Filanbanco, the largest bank at the time in Ecuador, didn’t just look at the black and white and the bottom line.
Estefano would reportedly look into the eyes of the potential loanee and see if they had that spark that he had witnessed in his grandfather’s. He took a chance on many and frequently it paid off for the person who would be able to support their family and community as a result of Estefano’s generosity of spirit.
